Large Margin Multi-metric Learning for Face and Kinship Verification in the Wild
نویسندگان
چکیده
Metric learning has been widely used in face and kinship verification and a number of such algorithms have been proposed over the past decade. However, most existing metric learning methods only learn one Mahalanobis distance metric from a single feature representation for each face image and cannot deal with multiple feature representations directly. In many face verification applications, we have access to extract multiple features for each face image to extract more complementary information, and it is desirable to learn distance metrics from these multiple features so that more discriminative information can be exploited than those learned from individual features. To achieve this, we propose a new large margin multi-metric learning (LML) method for face and kinship verification in the wild. Our method jointly learns multiple distance metrics under which the correlations of different feature representations of each sample are maximized, and the distance of each positive is less than a low threshold and that of each negative pair is greater than a high threshold, simultaneously. Experimental results show that our method can achieve competitive results compared with the state-of-the-art methods.

Local Large-Margin Multi-Metric Learning for Face and Kinship Verification
Metric learning has attracted wide attention in face and kinship verification and a number of such algorithms have been presented over the past few years. In many face-related tasks, w...
متن کاملAdditive Margin Softmax for Face Verification
In this paper, we propose a conceptually simple and geometrically interpretable objective function, i.e. additive margin Softmax (AM-Softmax), for deep face verification. In general, the face verification task can be viewed as a metric learning problem, so learning large-margin face features whose intra-class variation is small and inter-class difference is large is of great importance in order...
متن کاملMixed bi-subject kinship verification via multi-view multi-task learning
Bi-subject kinship verification addresses the problem of verifying whether there exists some kind of kin relationship (i.e., father–son, father-daughter, mother–son and mother–daughter) between a pair of parent–child subjects based purely on their visual appearance. The task is challenging due to the involvement of two different subjects possibly with different genders and ages. In addition, co...
متن کاملDistance Metric Learning with Eigenvalue Optimization
The main theme of this paper is to develop a novel eigenvalue optimization framework for learning a Mahalanobis metric. Within this context, we introduce a novel metric learning approach called DML-eig which is shown to be equivalent to a well-known eigenvalue optimization problem called minimizing the maximal eigenvalue of a symmetric matrix (Overton, 1988; Lewis and Overton, 1996). Moreover, ...
متن کاملKinship Verification through Transfer Learning
Because of the inevitable impact factors such as pose, expression, lighting and aging on faces, identity verification through faces is still an unsolved problem. Research on biometrics raises an even challenging problem—is it possible to determine the kinship merely based on face images? A critical observation that faces of parents captured while they were young are more alike their children’s ...
